What is it about this moon? It’s like every time I try to touch it, I’m propelled forward in time, to the Libra full moon on April 16th.

That next full moon has been talking to me for over a week, ever since I stood up from the beach, brushed the sand off my legs, and saw the bright blue eyes of a young girl walking towards me.

I’m Zakari! She told me, but I didn’t quite hear her. She had to repeat it three times before I understood: Nice to meet you Zakari! I’m Virginia.

I am three, but I’ll be four soon. She told me as she leaned over to pick up a stick.

My birthday is April 18th.

Happy early birthday! I responded as she walked right over to the spot where I’d been sitting.

I’d been sitting there, gazing into the water and performing my Virgo full moon ritual. One hand on the sand, one hand on my heart. I’d said a little prayer there, and now, she walked over and tossed the stick into the water at the exact spot where I’d been gazing. We watched together as it floated briefly at the edge of the lake before sinking out of sight.

I’ll be four in a week! She told me.

It was March 17th, and her mom corrected her, It’s in a month.

She too, it seemed, was being propelled forward, feeling the excitement up ahead.

The next day, when I looked at the astrology for the Libra full moon (or really…for two days later, on the 18th), I could see why.

I could see how everything now is leading us to then, and I thought of the moons in October of 2020, the ones that fell in the exact same place as these moons this month.

There was an Aries moon on October 1, 2020, and a Libra moon on October 16, 2020.

Shortly before the October 1, 2020, moon, I dreamt of coins - magnificent coins - placed in the palm of my hand.

But it wasn’t until October 15th - when the moon entered Libra - that I propped a pumpkin on my hip, reached out my hand, and received change for a five. When I looked down at the coin in the palm of my hand, I saw my name staring back at me, above the image of a ship. Hours later, I received an unexpected gift of a large sum of money that led me and my husband on a journey, out of New York City and into a house in Ohio.

This Aries new moon, like the moon on October 1, 2020, is leading us to what comes next.

And like in October 2020, this month of April has not two but three major moons. This time, the moons are leading us to the start of eclipse season…

The Taurus eclipse on April 30th falls in the same place as the Taurus blue moon that fell right right on Halloween in 2020.

I wrote a story for that moon then.

Or really, I channeled it.

The looming energy of that 2020 Halloween blue moon felt so big that the only way for me to make sense of it was through fiction, through a movie I saw playing in my mind.

The movie told a story about witches and real magic and about all of the pieces coming together on the Halloween blue moon, all of the pieces necessary to help a woman remember magic.

And that Halloween blue moon of 2020? It set the foundation for the eclipse heading our way on April 30th.

This Aries new moon? It’s not just leading to the Libra full moon on April 16th. It’s leading to the eclipses. It’s leading to the Aries full moon this fall. It’s leading to a grand remembrance. A collective RECOLLECTION.

It’s all coming together.

This month.

Over a series of three interconnected, powerful moons.

April 16

April 30

These moons echo the arc of October 2020 - from October 1 - October 31st - reflect back.

It all starts right now.

This Aries new moon is marked by two major conjunctions, clusters of planets working together and blending their energies, their stories.

The moon itself is conjunct not only the sun (as it is on every new moon), but it’s conjunct Mercury (the messenger), Chiron (the wounded healer), and Mnemosyne (the goddess of memory).

WE ARE HEALING OUR MEMORY.

Like the woman in the story, we are remembering.

Messages arrive to help us remember.

Messages are sent from a place of remembrance.

The words and ideas flowing through the cosmos are flowing to and from a great pool of memory.

In Greek mythology, the pool of memory was in the underworld, and there, Mnemosyne helped people enter the waters and regain the memories of their past lives, but only the initiated were allowed to drink from the pool, and in so doing, they stopped the cycle of reincarnation. In short, it was through remembrance that people were thought to rise above the wheel of life.

Remembrance and enlightenment are one.

What does it mean to become enlightened? For the light to shine on everything, for the memories to fill your soul and conscious mind so nothing is hidden from you within the dark.

As life and Spirit have taken me through one initiation after the next, as I have bathed in the pool of memory, I have repeatedly returned to the knowing that this is the story behind all stories, this is the foundational concept:

Most people have forgotten what’s true, and our time here is a journey towards remembrance.

Thousands of years ago in Ancient Greece, this very idea was shared through the story of opposing bodies of water in the underworld. There, there was the pool of memory, ruled by Mnemosyne. Drinking from this pool was reserved for the few, but those who drank, remembered everything. Everyone else? They drank from Lethe, the river of forgetfulness, which wiped their consciousness clean and prepared them to enter yet another life.

You see, it’s not that there aren’t terrible things in the world. It’s not that the darkness that shrouds our minds and causes destruction and pain doesn’t exist. It does, and it’s a painful sight. To walk through the world bearing witness to humanity’s forgetting is heartbreaking.

It could all be so easy, so beautiful, so peaceful, if we’d only remember. If we’d only trust our memory to drive our actions.

Forgetfulness is a fierce opponent, but if we open our hearts and minds, we are invited to drink from the pool of memory.

Initiations come in many forms, and most often, it is life that initiates you. The biggest, truest, deepest initiations come directly from Spirit, almost as if Mnemosyne herself takes you by the hand and guides you to the pool to drink.

When you arrive, will you be so brave?

Do you have the courage to let yourself remember?

To remember in a world that has mostly forgotten is an act of service. It opens you to the heartbreak of knowing, but it also opens you to the joy, the connection, the magic.

For every heartbreak is a heart expansion, and we possess the ability to clear the darkness that acts like a spell, shrouding our memories until the day when we free ourselves and remember the light that lives beneath the darkness and travels through everything.

We have the ability to heal our forgetting and remember the divinity from which we came and then, then, all that’s left is magic.

This is what this new moon brings. This is what this month brings. This is what is happening: a great collective healing of memory.

This new moon falls right on the asteroid Chiron, just as the Aries full moon did on October 1, 2020.

Reflect back on the time from October 1-16, 2020.

What happened in your life then?

What was healed?

The process of remembering is often long and layered.

What did you remember then?

What will you remember now?

Since this moon falls on the first of the month, I just looked at the year-ahead reading to see what messages it has for us, and I swear - my hand to God - that I had not looked at the astrology when I channeled the April message for us back in December. I had no idea the way it would connect with this moon.

But…the card for April? It features the image of a centaur, and Chiron (the asteroid) is named after a centaur from mythology, which is - I imagine - one of the reasons why the message for April talks all about Chiron and a big healing arriving this month. A BIG MESSAGE ARRIVING FOR ALL THE WORLD. A message that pierces our hearts and forces them to open.

What will it be?

We will soon remember.

WE ARE HEALING OUR MEMORY.

The cluster of planetary bodies (sun, moon, Mercury, Chiron, Mnemosyne) that mark this new moon are working seamlessly with a cluster of bodies in Aquarius.

The new moon is trine a conjunction of Saturn, Juno, Venus, and Mars. This infuses this fire moon with whole lot of air.

Air can fuel a fire or it can put it out.

Fire is light.

This is connected to the great divide between those who are remembering and those who continue to forget.

Be mindful with your energy right now. Rest when you need to rest. Go when you’re inspired to go. Keep the fire burning by tending to your being like the most glorious hearth.

You are weaving peace through every give and take, through every moment in which you interact with the world around you, which is every moment.

It starts with you.

With each person.

It’s not enough for one to remember or even thousands.

It starts with you.

And this moon offers you yet another beginning.

The start of this big April cycle leading us to the Libra full moon and eclipse season.

And the start of a six month cycle leading to the Aries full moon on October 9th.

What will you initiate now? Or really, what will be initiated for you by Spirit, by life itself, through the very act of your being?

Hi Nakari!

Zakari! She corrected me. Twice.

Made me really hear it.

What does the name Zakari mean? I wondered.

Then, I looked it up.

Zakari means The Lord Recalled, or as it’s often said: memory of the Lord.

It’s time to remember.

What are you remembering?

That’s for you to see.

Why the Calla Lily?

Perhaps you noticed that in the image for this new moon, there is a calla lily. I chose to include this because in the story I channeled during the Aries full moon time of October 2020, the woman received three flowers on her path to remembrance. The first was a calla lily.

Upon receiving the mysterious calla lilies, the woman’s best friend looks up the meaning of the flower: “purity, innocence, love…resurrection and rebirth. They are often displayed in portrayals of the Virgin Mary and bloom near Easter.”

When she learns this, the woman is even more confused about why she’d be receiving these flowers now - in October - nowhere near Easter, but here we are, with the 2022 echo moon building upon that October moon, and Easter is just around the corner, arriving on the 17th, the day after the Libra full moon.

And when I looked up the meaning of calla lilies again just now, this story jumped out at me:

“One early calla lily meaning originates in ancient Greek culture, where the flower was thought to represent magnificent beauty. This origin stems from a tale regarding Hercules as a baby. His father, the Greek god Zeus, had conceived him with an earthly woman, which meant he would lack divine, supernatural powers. Zeus drugged his goddess wife Hera to trick her into nursing the baby Hercules (to give him divine powers). As the drug wore off, she came to her senses and flung the nursing baby from her. As she did so, some drops of her breast milk dropped to earth and sprouted to form calla lilies.” (source)

Calla lilies - the remnants of that which bestows divine powers to us earthly people. So the story goes.

She received the calla lilies, and she started to remember.

Her powers returned.

Long story short:

This moon initiates a cycle of powerful moons that are here to help HEAL OUR MEMORY. Your personal memory, yes, but also the collective memory. To move us closer in the direction of divine truth, whatever that truth may be: that’s for us to remember. Big messages, healing messages (that sometimes break us open to let the light in) are en route. We are building upon all of the magic that unfolded in October 2020. Don’t get distracted by the cries of forgetfulness. Don’t allow the noise coming from the dark to pull you close. See it, understand it, but stay bright. Let the light move through you and come to you. Let yourself become a source for remembrance in a world that has mostly forgotten. Perhaps fill your home with calla lilies.
